Organising unstructured datasets allows data scientists to extract usable information from them. As a result, many data science roles today require data scientists to have skills in a variety of programming languages, with Python being the most common.
The objective for the course is to bring users an insight and understanding of topics such Core Web Technologies, Modern Databases and Unit Testing as well as Agile Project Management techniques including Scrum Frameworks. Areas covered in the curriculum are:
- The basics of the programming language 'Python' and data retrieval techniques using 'Structured Query Language'(SQL).
- Front end web technologies such as HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Cascading style sheets (CSS) and Javascript.
- Github which is a repository to manage code including version control.
- Jupyter notebooks. Project Jupyter exists to develop open-source software, open-standards, and services for interactive computing across dozens of programming languages.
- Agile working principles including the SCRUM framework. This framework is commonly used in authentic team-based environments to generate value by constantly applying adaptive solutions to complex problems.
